The Hollywood Gems Film Series
Legendary Hollywood films carefully selected to pair with each month’s Kate Classic, featuring directors and co-stars who worked alongside Miss Hepburn. See these film favorites as they were intended to be viewed—in the theater on the big screen.
Generously supported by a grant from Kristin and Jeff Cunningham.
After the death of her famous opera-singing aunt, Paula (Ingrid Bergman) is sent to study in Italy to become a great opera singer as well. While there, she falls in love with the charming Gregory Anton (Charles Boyer). The two return to London, and Paula begins to notice strange goings-on: missing pictures, strange footsteps in the night and gaslights that dim without being touched. As she fights to retain her sanity, her new husband's intentions come into question. Nominated for 6 Oscars, the film brought home two statues: Best Actress for Ingrid Bergman and Best Art Direction.
Directed by George Cukor, who directed Hepburn in 9 films.
