Adrian, Costume Designer for MGM

Who is Adrian? He’s one of the most famous Hollywood costume designers from the 1930′s and 40′s. Born Adrian Adolph Greenberg, he was a native of Naugatuck, Connecticut.

“Adrian” was best known for his costumes in the “Wizard of Oz” (he’s the guy behind the design of Dorothy’s ruby-red slippers) and for his designs in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer films and that’s where Katharine Hepburn comes in.

Adrian designed gowns for Hepburn in three of her MGM films; “The Philadelphia Story” (1940), “Keeper of the Flame” (1942), and “Woman of the Year” (1942).

See You at “The Kate.”
