More than a name, more than a place, the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center is really about people, the people of the shoreline, the estuary and beyond. Since its opening in September of 2009, The Kate has seen thousands of patrons pass through its doors, some of whom have traveled from as far away as Boston and New York for a performance.

Yet, impressive as these numbers are, far more important is the difference the Center has made in the life of the community. From the 4-year-olds dancing in front of the stage at SteveSongs to the high school chorus onstage to the denim-wrapped audience at the Small Town Concert Series to the patrons of the Met in HD, The Kate has touched a broad swath of lives, sparking laughter, lighting smiles and lifting hearts. It is playing the role we all hoped it would play, building an audience and taking its place in the cultural heart of our community.

But this is not a role it can fill without your help. All performing arts centers, all theatres, indeed all arts institutions, must depend upon the generosity of their patrons to make ends meet, and this is particularly true of The Kate. Marvelous in its intimacy, the Center only has so many seats to sell. We will always need your help, your gifts, your philanthropy.

And the people who give us this help will be our Members. We are asking you to become a Member.
